Carbon Intensity Intelligence
Turn farm data into market-ready CI insight.
Hypocotyl connects on-farm practices to credible, transparent carbon intensity scores — so producers can prove impact and buyers can source with confidence.

The Problem
Low-carbon agriculture is hard to measure, prove, and monetize.
Buyers want verified data. Programs require standardized methodology. Farmers need a workflow that doesn't add operational burden. Current tools weren't built to connect all three.
No consistent measurement standard
Carbon intensity in agriculture has no single agreed methodology. Results from different platforms aren't comparable — making procurement decisions difficult.
Data collection creates friction
Existing tools demand complex inputs or disrupt existing workflows. Low adoption means incomplete datasets and unreliable scores.
Buyers can't act on vague claims
Sustainability reports that say 'lower carbon' without a defined boundary, methodology, or confidence interval aren't contract-ready. They don't survive procurement scrutiny.
The Platform
Hypocotyl: CI infrastructure for agricultural supply chains.
We measure, explain, and report carbon intensity with scientific rigor and clear boundaries — so every stakeholder can trust the result.
CI Scoring Engine
Farm-specific carbon intensity calculated using a transparent, documented methodology. Every output is bounded, traceable, and auditable.
Farm Data Infrastructure
Structured data collection that meets producers where they work. Integrations with existing farm management tools where available.
Verification Support
Methodology aligned with recognized LCA frameworks. Outputs include boundary statements and confidence ranges — not just a number.
Buyer-Ready Reporting
Auditable CI reports formatted for procurement, Scope 3 disclosures, and low-carbon program participation.
Benchmark Comparison

Example values for illustrative purposes. Actual outputs depend on farm data and confirmed methodology parameters.
Process
How it works
From data to decision-grade output in three clear steps.
Gather farm and production data
Producers input practice data through a structured, low-friction workflow. Inputs include fuel use, fertilizer application, tillage, crop yield, and field-level details.
Calculate with a transparent methodology
The Hypocotyl CI engine applies a documented, boundary-defined methodology aligned with recognized LCA standards. Every assumption is logged.
Deliver auditable, decision-ready outputs
CI scores are produced with boundary statements, confidence ranges, and full data lineage — formatted for procurement, reporting, and program participation.
Who It Serves
Built for both sides of the supply chain.
Hypocotyl creates value for producers and buyers together — because trusted data only works when everyone can rely on it.

Why Hypocotyl
Methodology you can explain. Data you can stand behind.
Transparent by design
Every CI score comes with a full boundary statement, data completeness metric, and confidence range. Nothing we show cannot be explained or traced.
Grounded in farm reality
Methodology developed with agricultural context in mind. Practical data inputs, realistic assumptions, and respect for how farms actually operate.
Decision-grade for buyers
Outputs are structured for procurement workflows, Scope 3 disclosures, and program participation — not just internal sustainability reports.
Science-first, not marketing-first
Hypocotyl is not a certification badge. We measure, explain, and report CI with rigor — including honest statements about what the data does and does not say.
Methodology
Built on recognized scientific frameworks.
Our carbon intensity methodology draws from established LCA principles and agricultural emissions accounting standards. Boundaries are defined, assumptions are documented, and outputs include explicit uncertainty ranges.
—Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aligned approach
—Cradle-to-farmgate boundary definition
—Field-level data inputs, not regional defaults where avoidable
—Confidence ranges and data completeness reporting
—Methodology governance and transparent versioning

Excluded: downstream transport, processing, and packaging. Exclusions are explicitly noted in all outputs.
