Brent Thumlert
CEO
CEO of Hypocotyl. Previously Managing Director and Head of Climate Smart & Software Solutions at BMO Capital Markets, where he led the product and technology integration of Radicle following its acquisition. Before BMO, he built Canada's first DMRV platform at Radicle, scaling the software and product teams and managing data for 3,500+ clients across 10.5M acres of farmland. His work has helped thounds of business build capcaity to find sustiable practices and reduce emissions. He volunteers with Canada Task Force 2 and is an active Ski Patrol member at Sunshine Village.

Jim Hardin
Board Member
Jim Hardin has a passion for technology commercialization and value creation in the agricultural sector. Currently, in his role as Vice President with Verdex Capital and founding partner of Carrot Ventures, Jim applies his expertise in identifying investment opportunities, defining value propositions, and applying transactional skills to build and finance innovative Agricultural technology companies. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge of investor dynamics and the entrepreneurial journey to bear in the service of Hypocotyl. Prior to Verdex, he had a productive career as an academic in life sciences and published extensively in various areas of human and animal health. As a past company founder and entrepreneur, himself, he has insight into the challenges of early-stage company formation and actions needed to address them. His experience serves to identify and equip teams for significant commercial results.
Jim has a PhD and a BSc from the University of Calgary.
Monte Wilson

Monte Wilson currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Verdex Capital. He received his CPA CA designation in 1991 and brings 35+ years of experience of financial reporting and management covering a variety of industries and organizations. In addition to his current role with Verdex Capital, Monte has held roles with a privately owned oil and gas services company as well as a multi-national environmental company and a multi-national real estate company.

PhD in agricultural systems. Led LCA methodology development at a national research institute for seven years.
